Shirati Hospital is among the old mission hospitals in Tanzania. It was founded by the missionaries from Eastern Mennonite Mission (EMM) from the United States of America in 1934. Shirati Hospital is owned by Kanisa la Mennonite Tanzania.
Shirati Hospital is situated 52kms north west from Tarime Township, Mara Region, and Tanzania. It is near Lake Victoria (a walking distance) and
near the Kenya Border. Geographically is positioned in 01 degree 09 minutes 13 seconds south, 32 degrees 01 minutes 50.3 seconds East, 1200 meters above see level. The time zone is 3 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). Shirati area receives long rains in March – May and short rains in October to November. We receive water for hospital use pumped by electricity from Lake Victoria. Telephones, cell phones, email and fax are accessible for communication. Rough roads are fairly good especially in dry seasons; we have an air strip for small planes.
